How it Works
Mindful Consumerism
Our mission at ASENA is to provide certified sustainable feminine clothing that looks and feels good on every body. Flexible and forgiving designs flow to fit your unique shape and move with your body as it changes over the days, months, and years. Certified Sustainable Fabric made of natural materials is hand chosen for each collection, then dyed with Organic Plant Based Dye by artisan craftsman in small four meter batches. Individual garments are constructed one by one by our Ethical Manufacturing partners and hand checked for quality control, then tastefully wrapped in recycled packaging and shipped with carbon-neutral offset to your door. ASENA products are designed to withstand the test of time in style and quality, and you can expect these beauties to be your wardrobe favorites for many years to come.

FABRIC SELECTION
At ASENA we believe in the power of ancient tradition, and that includes the use of timeless earth made fabrics. While semi-synthetic environmental alternatives are becoming available, our aim is to stick to the basics that have withstood the test of time. Materials such as silk, organic cotton, linen, and hemp have been used for millennia throughout cultures across the globe. New age technology allows precise and diligent tracing of farm to factory manufacturing techniques to ensure regenerative farming practices, ethical harvesting, non-chemical processing, and global distribution.
PLANT DYING
All of our fabric is dyed from 100% natural plant materials. Plants are grown in small villages in the foothills of Bali Indonesia by local farmers and hand harvested in made-to-order batches to be used per round of dying. Plants such as indigo, mango, papaya, and others are stripped of their leaves and bark and boiled in large vats, like a tea, to extract color. Once the base color is extracted, various teas are blended to create a unique and one of a kind shade to be used for dying. We purchase certified sustainable fabric in bulk, which is then washed and cut into four meter segments. Cuts of fabric are individually hand dyed until the desired color is achieved. The all natural and chemical free dye is rinsed from the fabric and irrigated safely back into the surrounding local fields to create a fully closed loop water circuit so no resources are wasted. The four meter segments are individually hung to dry in the Bali sun, then washed with a non-toxic substrate to fix the dye into the fabric and prevent bleeding and fading.

ETHICAL MANUFACTURING
We make quality sustainable fashion from start to finish with mindful intention. We are partnered with a professionally trained, multi-generational family owned manufacturer with over forty years in the industry. Our pattern makers, quality control managers, artisan tailors, and project leaders are not only our business partners but our close personal friends. The staff of roughly twenty five employees of all genders and ages earn competitive wages, honor personal and religious holidays in abundance, and are encouraged and free to express their genuine character fully within their clean and relaxed work environment. Our four meter cuts of fabric are delivered directly from the dyer to the tailoring team, where fabric is cut into respective patterns and hand crafted piece by piece. Items are individually checked for size and quality then shipped to our headquarters in Miami Beach for packaging and distribution to you.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
Everything at ASENA is regenerative in nature, and that includes our shipping and packaging. Recycled boxes are branded with natural organic dye and your garments are packed in recycled tissue and natural twine. Compostable mailers are used when smaller orders are placed, and recycled paper inserts are included to thank you for your order. All garment tags and hanging tags are comprised of organic cotton, organic ink, and organic linen cardstock, ensuring a 360 biodegradable non-toxic shopping experience. We aim to offset carbon emissions from shipping by donating 1% of sales to Tree Planting and Kelp Forest Restoration Projects throughout the United States.
